Independence Day, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago on July 4, 1776.
The Declaration of Independence is the statement adopted by the Second Continental Congress meeting at the Pennsylvania State House (Independence Hall) in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies, then at war with the Kingdom of Great Britain, regarded themselves as thirteen newly independent sovereign states, and no longer under British rule. Instead, they formed a new nation, one nation, the United States of America.
Considered to be one of the most important sentences in the Declaration is “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” This sentence came to represent a moral standard to which the United States should strive.
This 4th of July, join me in giving thanks for living in this wonderful country. Let us all come together, once more, as One Nation, under God, with Liberty and Justice for all.

Lance Tschetter, Vice President of Lankota, had the privilege to take part, this past Monday, in the 2nd annual Warriors Never Give Up fishing event. He, along with 12 other fishermen, spent the day taking an amazing group of World War II and Vietnam vets fishing! Lance said "The day was absolutely perfect, the weather was great, the fishing was fantastic, and the company was extraordinary! The time spent with John and Earl, both Vietnam vets, was truly humbling and life changing. I would like to thank anybody who has made the incredible sacrifice to serve this country!" In 2016, Lankota held the first "Lankota Harvest Photo Contest". The purpose of the contest was to gather pictures that could be showcased in the 2017 Catalog, as well as other Marketing material. Many of the photos were so spectacular that Lankota converted 20 of the photos to 24 x 36 canvas's. These are now proudly hung in the offices and halls of Lankota with an inscription of the name of the photo and the photographer. The picture you see here has been appropriately been named "South Dakota Pheasant Hunt" and was taken by Kennedy Fast of Iroquois, South Dakota.
